Tour Itinerary
Description

Today, embark on an off-the-beaten-path journey through Angkor Park with your tour guide to uncover hidden gems beyond the main Angkor temples that most tourists overlook.

Begin your adventure at Srah Srang, known as The Royal Pool, where Khmer royalty once performed ritual bathing. This picturesque artificial lake is surrounded by serene temples and pavilions, offering a tranquil start to your exploration. Next, visit the mountain temple of Pre Rup, famed for its five-stepped pyramids that provide stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. This temple, with its unique architectural design, is a testament to the grandeur of the Khmer Empire.

Continue to Eastern Mebon Temple, an impressive site originally situated on an artificial lake within the Eastern Baray. Guarded by stone figures of harnessed elephants at its corners, this temple showcases the intricate craftsmanship of the era. Discover the captivating Ta Som Temple, where a massive tree has grown through its structure, creating a scene reminiscent of the iconic Ta Prohm. This spot offers fantastic photo opportunities, blending nature with ancient architecture.

Visit Neak Pean, or Coiled Serpents, a unique fountain located in the center of a pool. This site is famous for its intricate carvings of serpents and mythical creatures, reflecting the rich symbolism of Khmer art and mythology.

Finally, explore Preah Khan, or Sacred Sword, constructed in 1191 as a monastery and educational complex. Noteworthy for its religious tolerance, Preah Khan encompasses sections dedicated to Buddhism, ancestor worship, and Hindu deities such as Shiva and Vishnu. Don’t miss the delicate frieze of celestial dancers, or apsaras, in the Hall of Dancers within the second enclosure, a highlight of the temple’s intricate design.

*Remark: For the afternoon tour, you can choose to enjoy the sunset at Pre Rup, witnessing the temple’s beauty as the day ends, or continue exploring the expansive Preah Khan until sunset, soaking in the serene atmosphere and historical significance.
